SUMMARY OF ROLE

SunPower is seeking a Warranty and O&M Senior Accountant who will be reporting into the Warranty/O&M Team Lead. This position will be responsible for helping to manage the warranty accrual and claim process for SPWR’s Residential business. The position will execute the month-end/quarter close preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, management & financial reports, and SOX requirements. The position will work hand in hand with our Residential business partners, including cross-functional and cross-geographical teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review of warranty claims for appropriate account charging and product tagging for use in helping to summarize the periodic claim activity.

  • Responsible for helping to reconcile the outstanding RMA claims whereby the dealer (or partner) has not yet returned an item to SPWR (and should be invoiced) or has not reimbursed SPWR for workmanship performed on the installing partner's behalf.

  • Assisting the Lead Accountant in helping to work with RMA Team to further streamline the claims process for more timely identification of latent returns and helping to standardize the RMA processing for consistent accounting.

  • Identifying opportunities for further recourse/reimbursement with the supplier based on contract terms (i.e. identification of epidemic, etc.) and other potential recovery.

  • Assisting in the preparation of the warranty modeling (underlying report inputs and tie-out, claims data, various assumptions).

  • Preparation of the needed journal entries for both month-end/quarter close and execution of the warranty SOX controls.

  • Working with IT business partners to help automate manual processes.

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in Accounting, preferably CPA

  • Public accounting experience with Big 4 or national accounting firm and/or 4 years in industry.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting procedures, accounting systems and SOX compliance/processes.

  • Experience in Oracle Fusion is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Detail oriented with attention to deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills (working cross-functionally with several different stakeholder groups and summarizing the data for use in reporting to management).

  • This is an FTE position.

  • Candidate must be willing to work in Binan Laguna

  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work and reside in the Philippines.

  • Candidate must be willing to render overtime as business requires (weekends, US/PH holidays)

  • Candidate must be flexible to work on a night shift schedule supporting North America region.

  • Candidate will be on flexible work arrangement (combination of onsite and remote work) (if applicable depending on the nature of the job)

  • Tool of Trade: Laptop/Desktop, Extended Monitor, Headset (as needed)
